Hello Robert and John,

I'm a recent joiner of your group (I originally signed up for TwiPic and Twitvid, but no one else joined-- sadness).
I'll be in touch shortly! I've never used Meebo, as I don't IM often, but I'm somewhat familiar with it. I'll look at it a little more when I get the chance, for sure.

Sorry if I'm a little slow with communication over the weekend-- the tornado knocked down a lot of trees and lines/cables around my house in Queens, and my internet is down at home (still working at school though!)

Besides being an IM service Meebo also supports and can interact with other services such as Yahoo Messenger, AIM, MySpaceIM, FacebookIM, etc. This makes it a more versatile application and allows users to post messages even when primary user is not Online. If possible, maybe we can all meet prior to class tomorrow to discuss our plan of attack!

Sorry for the late response! I'm not sure actually if I would be able to arrive to class much earlier than the class start-time; I'd be coming to class straight from work, and sometimes the timing can be tight, depending on traffic. :/

Hey group,

I just wanted to add on to our Wiki what we've been discussing via email, so that our progress is more transparent.

As per Bob's suggestion, we'll be breaking up our presentation into three parts:
1 Describe the history of Meebo and what it is
2 Explain how to set up an account and how to use it on other websites
3 Show what benefits it can have on a library environment.

We've decided that Bob will be taking care of #1, me #2, and John #3, and that we'll try to come up with a powerpoint, and to have our parts done a week prior to presenting so that we can have it be cohesive.

According to the syllabus, the time limit for each presentation is "30 minutes and Q&A 10-15 minutes"-- since the actual presentation portion is 30 minutes, and we have 3 topics to go over, I guess each of us should also practice a bit to make sure that each of our respective sections don't go over 10 minutes long.

Hey guys,

So... I think that both John and Bob weren't in class yesterday, right? So in any case, I just wanted to make a mention that the class voted on having us move up our presentation to 11/2. Just wanted everyone to be aware of it! Bob, I know that you're on track with your portion of the presentation... I think it's just myself and John who have to catch up to you!

That's ok with me... I sent you the first portion of the PPT so you could continue with the same formatt. I am in the process of adding notes to the slides, so I'm good. Thanks

sounds good to me too. I'll take a look at it soon and try to format my part to flow with yours... all this will be done asap, but as soon as that pesky book report is submitted and done with! stay tuned...

So my portion of the powerpoint is really short (2 slides, compared to Bob's 9). Since I'm presenting on the practical portion of using Meebo (how to set up an account, etc), most of my portion will be utilizing the actual Meebo site, rather than Powerpoint. One of my slides has a link to a short screencast I did of setting up my Meebo account-- video quality is kinda laggy due to my computer having issues, but I think (hope?) I can make it work.

Thanks Bob! I'm also going to be uploading my written notes for what I'll be talking about for my Part II, since it was only 2 slides, just in case anyone is curious.
