 Hi my name is Emma.

I received my BA in English from Queens College. I was active in school clubs during my undergrad years, being vice president of the Haitian Student Association for a year and later president. Shortly after graduating I enrolled into the Library School. I am most interested in zoo libraries and hope to work in one someday.

Currently I am a Library Assistant at the Mertz Library located inside the New York Botanical Garden. I enjoy reading, especially Terry Prachett novels. My favorite book is The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. I also love animal education shows and documentaries. This is where my interest in zoo libraries comes from. My favorite animals are lions, wolves and dolphins.

I can be contacted at emma.antobam@gmail.com. I have included a photo I took with a mime in Leon, France. The art technique is nearly extinct and I rarely see street mimes. I just couldn't pass up the chance to take a photo with one!

Hi, Emma,

Welcome to the class! This is the first time I have heard zoo libraries...It must be very interesting to locate information for animal health, nutrition, etc. Do you get a lot of calls or emails at your present job? Lion? oh, I am so scared...

Hi Professor Li,

Thanks! You are not alone, there are so many people who are not aware of zoo libraries. There are not so many of them in the United States. In most cases they do not always have a librarian on staff.

At my present job we get tons of reference calls and emails from people all over the world. Our library has a very large collection on horticulture, botany and the natural world (which includes small sections on wildlife). I am personally not a fan of plants but the experience at this library is certainly an interesting one.
